"Every child deserves a future."
But a future - stable families, a basic education and a life free from violence - has been denied to a generation of children during Southern Sudan's decades-long civil war. The region of Jalle is home to thousands of children displaced by war. Many thousands died, but those who have endured the slaughter and scattering of their families, victims of political and religious persecution at the hands of the fanatical government of the Muslim north, continue to suffer from the lack of the most essential necessities of life.
Rebuild Sudan is a non-profit (501c3) initiative to help these children and their community help themselves. Our goals are to build a primary school for the refugee children and clean, modern wells for the community of Jalle, an area in the state of Jonglei of several thousand people.
We hope to improve literacy rates, promote equality, and offer the generation of children—who have thus far only known fear and violence—a future for themselves and generations to come.
Our Mission
The mission of Rebuild Sudan is to encourage, strengthen, and support those whose lives were devastated in the 21-year-long civil war between north and south Sudan by providing education to children and youth who have experienced war firsthand, providing clean drinking water for those returning from refugee camps, building a women’s center, and working to provide adequate health care in the villages of Southern Sudan.
“Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development.” -Kofi Annan
